Here are some photos from a trip to Urugyay :
Montevideo. This is the Plaza Independencia with the wonderful Palacio Salvo. This was the highest building in South America from 1928 to 1935.

First up Colonia, a small old city
It's opposite Buenos Aires on the River Plate
The lighthouse was built over the ruins of an old church
The city is full of old cars such as this Studebaker
Other cars are a bit more fishy
Punta del Este
Punta del Este
This sculpture, called Monumento al Ahogado but better known as the Hand, is the symbol of the city
The Ralli museum is the local modern art place of Punta Del Este
Casapueblo is the house of the artist Carlos Páez Vilaró just outside of Punta Del Este
Casapueblo is built over 9 floors
Casapueblo is also a hotel
Next is Punta del Diablo, a small fishing village near the border with Brasil
Punta del Diablo is now used more by surfers than by fishermen
